Hello fellow simmers,
Version 1.1
As many of you may know, back in early January, we released version 1.1 of the TFDi Design MD-11. This update brought official Flight Simulator 2024 support and massive improvements across the board including reworked sounds, a completely re-modeled exterior, and overhauls of many major code systems. It also included the first public release of the Extended Simulation package. The full changelog is available here.
The official trailer is available here.
The February 24th Update (the "Week 1" Patch for 1.1)
Today, we're happy to announce that the first major update since 1.1 has been released to everyone. This update brings refinements to the overall experience and polish/finishing touches to version 1.1. We focused on broadening integration with third party/external software and hardware, optimizing the VR experience, and rounding out the systems, artwork, and sounds. The main focus was on pilot experience. We are all extremely proud of what the aircraft has become. If you haven't tried the aircraft recently, we invite you to bring it out of the hangar and experience the definitive edition of the MD-11.
Going forward, here's what to expect.
PC Marketplace
As of the time of writing, we are in the process of exporting and sending the packages to Microsoft for review for the PC marketplace. When it becomes available will depend primarily on them.
Xbox
With active development concluded, we will begin the process of converting the assets for Xbox. While we don't anticipate this being a lengthy process, we've learned not to give time estimates we can't 100% guarantee.
P3D
We did apply many of the fixes in this update to P3D as it was a follow-up to 1.1. With that said, new sales for the P3D were stopped when 1.1 came out last month and there will be no future effort for the P3D version of the aircraft.
Looking Forward
With the aircraft in a stable and enjoyable state, daily development efforts will shift toward other projects. That said, the MD-11 is still a flagship product and we will continue to monitor feedback from our users. While development and updates on it will slow down quite a bit, it is not being abandoned or forgotten.
We want to thank our fantastic Quality Assurance team and the Collector's Edition customers for their support. Without their commitment and thorough feedback, the aircraft would not be what it is. We also want to thank our community for their continued support - it has been an honor to develop an aircraft that has been, and continues to be, loved by so many.
Finally, we look forward to bringing it to marketplace and Xbox as soon as possible.
