Tailstrike and TFDi Design Unveil First-of-Its-Kind, Fully Persistent Shared Aircraft

For the first time ever, pilots can fly an MD-11 that carries the real wear, states, failures, and history left behind by every previous pilot on the Tailstrike network.

Step into the cockpit exactly as the last pilot left it. When you fly the TFDi Design MD-11 on Tailstrike, you’re no longer flying in a local sandbox. You’re flying a living airframe with a unique history, shaped by every pilot that has flown it before you. Every switch, every system, and every failure is the result of many flights by many pilots.

It's a massive step forward in flight simulation realism. How you fly changes the aircraft for everyone, forever.

This is the vision behind Tailstrike: aircraft that exist, just like real aircraft. Each unique registration on Tailstrike is a living airframe that anyone can fly, not a sterile preset that disappears when your flight ends. Every tail has a location, history, and basic state persistence on the network. But TFDi Design's extraordinarily high-fidelity MD-11 becomes the ultimate realism experience. Everything about the aircraft carries forward on the network - hundreds of systems and thousands of states - meaning your actions inside the aircraft have consequences that affect other pilots, and their actions can affect you. The result is a dynamic experience where no two aircraft are the same, checklists become essential, and emergencies are truly emergent, resulting from how real pilots have actually flown and maintained that exact aircraft over time.

"We're proud to partner with TFDi Design, a premier developer in flight simulation. The TFDi Design MD-11, with its meticulously modeled systems and simulated failures, is the ideal aircraft to bring the Tailstrike vision to life." Matt Kline, Founder, Tailstrike

"The MD-11 is a complex, dynamic machine. Tailstrike gives it life and lets each airframe build a real history across all of the pilots that flew it. For our Extended Simulation users, this is taken even further by allowing individual parts to accrue real wear and tear between pilots and capture the spirit of the engineering behind them. This sort of depth and shared experience is perfectly aligned with our vision for the aircraft." Collin Biedenkapp, Managing Director, TFDi Design

The Tailstrike MD-11 integration is live today for pilots on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 on PC. Pilots can create a free Tailstrike account at tailstrike.net, install the lightweight Tailstrike plugin, and sync their TFDi Design MD-11 in one click. MD-11 owners can also redeem their product key on the Tailstrike app for a free month of Tailstrike Supporter tier.

Flying on Tailstrike is free, open to all, and works with all major simulators and networks.
